BUILT ENVIORMENT.
Our Civils team collaborated with Main Contractor Morgan Sindall Construction on the impressive Hove Beach Park project, spanning from King Alfred to Hove Lagoon. The development includes a skate and pump track, padel tennis courts, a new tennis pavilion and beautifully landscaped gardens.
SCOPE OF WORK:
Our team played a key role in delivering several key elements of the project, including:
The creation of the skate and pump track
The development of tennis courts
Landscaping of the gardens
Construction of the new sports hub
As part of the project's first phase, we installed the necessary infrastructure for the site setup, including:
A 2,000m² macadam car park
A 1,500m² piling mat
Temporary drainage and service connections
Additionally, the initial stages involved vacuum excavation to safely locate existing services within the proposed work area.
The sports hub required reinforced concrete (RC) works. The skate park area was cut and filled, with soakaways, lighting ducting and pathways installed.
A key objective of the project was to restore greenspace, increasing biodiversity by 20% compared to the pre-existing site. In line with Morgan Sindall’s net-zero goals, our Civils team implemented innovative waste management techniques, such as reusing topsoil and incorporating recycled aggregates into the pathways.
We were honoured to receive the Preconstruction Support Award from Morgan Sindall Construction for our contributions to the Hove Beach Park project.

POSITIVE COMMUNITY IMPACT
From its inception, the Hove Beach Park project has focused on regenerating the Hove seafront. By delivering revitalised facilities for the local community, it continuously generated social value throughout the duration.
Our Civils division also welcomed Chris to our team, working on the site in partnership with FedCap, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting individuals back into employment. As part of our Ethical Recruitment strategy, Chris has taken on multiple roles, including Traffic Marshall, Labourer and Groundworker. He has also completed his CLOCS (Site Access Traffic Marshall) training, provided by Morgan Sindall Construction, allowing him to develop his skills from residential to more diverse commercial roles.
CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY INITATIVES
The Shore Group is committed to supporting the community and fostering inclusivity. As part of this, we proudly backed Brighton Pride City Angels, reinforcing our collective commitment to equality and community engagement.
In 2024, Shore Group Civils participated in Morgan Sindall’s Crawley College Day, offering students a site tour and hands-on demonstrations, including a vacuum excavation demonstration, to introduce them to the construction industry.
At the project site, our Civils team through partnerships enhanced sustainability in pathway construction. By incorporating 100% recycled aggregates as a base layer, we significantly reduced waste and promoted circular economy principles. The project also utilises cold asphalt, which cuts CO2 emissions by 40% compared to traditional hot asphalt, further minimising our carbon footprint.
COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY
Our approach to sustainable construction underscores our dedication to environmental responsibility. By prioritising material reuse and reducing emissions, we continue to contribute to a greener, more sustainable future.

The 'Kingsway to the Sea' project is set to become a landmark development for Brighton, leaving a lasting legacy for the local community while championing innovative and eco-conscious construction practices.
